I was doing some searching today and saw that the Tampa Bay ColdFusion User’s Group has posted the topic for their July meeting being held on 07/28/2008 (not sure of the time).  They will be hosting Gert Franz, the head of Railo.  Railo has recently been publicized for their ColdFusion application server alternative that will soon be made available under an OSS license.  Additionally, they’ve partnered with JBoss to deliver JEE feature sets from the JBoss application server into CFML as simple tag-based markup.  You can read more about Railo’s latest announcements here.

If anyone has the time free, I’d definitely encourage them make the trip out Tampa for this presentation.  Railo is a great product in its current state and has loads of potential in the application server market.  Also, we’ve been a little Flex heavy recently, so this is a great opportunity to dive back into CF.  At the very least, it never hurts to support our fellow Florida Adobe user groups.

NOTE: If anyone is interested in putting together a caravan to carpool out to the meeting, please post in the comments here.
