We’re well under way with the creation of the Adogo! Some recent news:
- Submitted our application for the creation of a user group with Adobe
- Created a Google Group and Calendar
- Begun work on group logo
The next big step now that we’ve begun to setup the infrastructure of our group is to collect topics that people would like to see presented or present themselves. Below is a list of what we collected from our “pre-meeting”:
- ColdCourse Tutorial – Primer: SES URLs
- Flex frameworks [Cairngorm, PureMVC, etc] – Primer: MVC in RIA
- ColdFusion Frameworks [Fusebox, Model-Glue, Mach-II, Coldbox, etc] – Primer: MVC in HTTP-based Apps
- Prototype Javascript Library – Primer: Object Oriented Javascript
- CFEclipse – Primer : Eclipse
- Review of Adobe Lab Technologies
- ORM Frameworks [Transfer, Reactor, Hibernate, iBatis, etc] – Primer: Object Persistence
- Web Standards and Best Practices – Primer: XHTML, CSS, XML
- Object-Oriented Programming in Adobe languages
- Object-Oriented Design – Primer: UML
- ColdFusion Pet Peeves
As alternatives to the basic presentation format, the following ideas were brought up:
- Problem Solving Exercises
- Live Code Review Sessions
- Case Studies
- Open Source Software
- User Group Projects
- EBay AIR Application
So what do you think? Leave us some comments so we can begin to collect information on speakers and presentations.

21|Jun|2007 2I’d really like to also see remote presentations via Adobe Connect integrated from individuals such as Brian Kotek for his XMI to CFC Generator, Mark Drew for CFEclipse, and Simeon Bateman for Flex and Ruby integration.
Does that sound interesting to anyone if we can make it work?

22|Jun|2007 3Hello all. I am voting for:
Flex frameworks [Cairngorm, PureMVC, etc] – Primer: MVC in RIA
and also
Object-Oriented Design – Primer: UML
Best of all would be to show the MVC using the UML including some examples as a reference.
Also I would like to propose a subject on AS3 and UML.
UML in AS3 development, best practices, tools and software.

22|Jun|2007 5Hello,
For presentations I am interested in MVC in RIA, as well as, the Flex/Ruby integration.
For alternatives; I would volunteer to jump into some sort of user group project…
Ebay’s app is cool enough to go over.

27|Jun|2007 6Hey group, I am looking forward to the first meeting (if I am not in class at the time). I am working on Flex + Rails integration and when I know enough to be credible perhaps I can present on that. Thanks.

07|Jul|2007 7FWIW – I recently got back form CFUN and briefly spoke with both Charlie Arehart and Joe Rinehart about possibly doing Acrobat Connect talks for user groups.
Joe announced publicly as well and Coldfusion Weekly seems to be trying to set something up right now. Charlie mentioned he was willing and I am sure lots other speakers would if asked nicely.
Feedback? If there is any interest, do let know and I’ll follow up on this.
Mario
